President Peter F. Olesen, P.E., founded Entertainment Concepts Inc. 43 years ago and has become an internationally known family entertainment studies and design firm. We provide our clients with continuous services from the preliminary concept development stage to the actual construction phase and beyond.

Engineering and Design Staff

Our team provides our client with many years of experience, developing the outstanding family entertainment attractions that our clients require. For this reason, we have become an industry leader in developing new and exciting concepts for go-kart tracks, miniature golf courses, bumper boat ponds, and other attractions.
All concepts and plans are developed with safety and accessibility as the prime concern. Our comprehensive services extend to traffic studies, municipal and private industry projects, highway design, stormwater management, and related civil engineering work.

Representative Projects

We have helped create several family entertainment centers that we consider representative projects since they best reflect the kind of work that we deliver to our clients. These include the following:

El Chorro Regional Park Go-Kart Track and Miniature Golf Course, San Luis Obispo County CA Parks and Recreation Department

The design and preparation of construction plans and specifications for the 835 foot outdoor electric family road course go-kart track and themed 18 hole miniature golf course were completed in 2019. Construction is on hold pending funding.

Frankie’s Fun Park - Charlotte, North Carolina

Our firm created three go-kart tracks from concept through final design and preparation of construction plans and specifications for three outdoor go-kart tracks as part of the 2018 opening of Frankie’s Fun Park, Charlotte’s largest family entertainment center. These included a 1,500 foot family road course go-kart track, “reversible” 1,100 foot “Drifter” road course go-kart track and 500 foot reversible “Adult” slick road course go-kart track, all with dual pitting.
The overall park also includes an 85,000 square foot indoor attraction building, 64 holes of miniature golf and several theme park type midway rides.

Funway Family Entertainment Center - Batavia, Illinois

Our firm created a 900 foot family road course go-kart track from concept through final design and preparation of construction plans and specifications including reversibility and dual pitting. The track opened in the spring of 2019 as part of Funway’s ongoing growth as the largest Family Entertainment Center in Illinois.

282 Family Fun Park - Caron, Saskatchewan

Our firm developed this seasonal outdoor family entertainment project from concept through final design and preparation of construction plans and specifications to be constructed in separate phases as funding became available. The attractions included an 835-foot-long reversible family road course go-kart track, 18-hole miniature golf course, Water Wars, outdoor soft play, picnic pavilion, sand volleyball court, bunny corral and point-of-sales building. Phase One, consisting of the miniature golf course and point of sales building opened in 2021.

Pinballz 55,000 S.F Indoor FEC Expansion. Austin, Texas

Our firm developed an attraction master plan for a 55,000 s.f. space that became available in the same building as the existing Pinballz FEC. The masterplan included a 6,000 square foot laser tag arena, several escape rooms, birthday party rooms, meeting rooms, .bar area, and point-of-sales areas. We also created concept through final design and preparation of construction plans and specifications for a 470 foot indoor electric (battery powered) family road course go-kart track. The new space opened in late 2018.

Action City - Eau Claire, Wisconsin

Our firm created concept through final design and preparation of construction plans and specifications for a 715 foot outdoor family road course go-kart track to replace an existing oval track as part of Action City’s expansion of existing outdoor attractions for an existing family entertainment center and indoor water park. The track opened in 2017.

Wonder Mountain - Bey, Maine

Our firm created from concept through final design and construction plans and specifications, a 750 foot outdoor electric (battery powered) family road course go-kart track, new parking lot and site engineering for a proposed ropes course as part of the expansion of an existing miniature golf course attraction. The track opened in the spring of 2016.

Fun Trackers - Corpus Christi, Texas

This project included the creation from concept through final design and preparation of construction plans and specifications for a 900 foot reversible family road course go-kart track plus a new pit with dual pitting and a new 7-bay batting cage to replace an existing oval track at Funtrackers, an established family entertainment center. The track and batting cage opened in March 2015.

Helios Family Entertainment Park - Danang, Vietnam

Our firm was part of a design team that created a new indoor/outdoor family entertainment center in Danang Vietnam. Our responsibilities included creating from concept to final design and preparation of construction plans and specifications for a 750-foot- reversible indoor electric (battery-powered) family road course go-kart track with dual pitting. located on the second floor of the new attractions building, which also contains karaoke studios, games, food service and underground parking. We also created concept through final design preparation of construction plans and specifications for the development of an outdoor 14-bumper boat pond with a Battle Zone and a 1,000-foot river channel for a boat school. The facility opened in the spring of 2014.

Fort Frenzy - Fort Dodge, Iowa

Our firm created Fort Frenzy from start to finish. It is a complete outdoor/indoor family entertainment center that utilized a 25,000 square foot building (formerly an industrial establishment) to house A 6 lane mini-lane bowling alley Laser tag arena, indoor bumper cars, game room, redemption store birthday party rooms parent/toddler room, snack bar, point of sales, administrative offices, ballroom and convention center. We developed designs from concept through final design and preparation of construction plans and specifications for an 850 foot electric (battery powered) reversible, family road course go-kart track, 18 hole miniature golf course, 8 boat bumper boat pond, outdoor stage and parking lots

Victory Fun Park - Lewisburg, Tennessee

The initial park project, which opened in August 2013, consists of a nine-hole miniature golf course, a parking lot, and a small clubhouse and game room. A second nine-hole course, which will include dual Water Wars and a children's play area, was planned for construction the following year.

Zoomers Amusement Park - Fort Myers, Florida

Our firm performed an initial feasibility study of a family entertainment center that failed in 2006, 90 days before its opening, due to poor design and construction practices. Our study indicated that with proper planning and design, the facility was feasible. We created two go-kart track designs (850 foot family road course and a 300 foot “Adult” slick road course) and an 18 hole ADA compliant miniature golf course from concept through final design and preparation of construction plans and specifications, redesigned existing bumper boat pond, upgraded midway, buildings and parking lots. The existing 13,500 s.f. building was reconfigured to include a 2 lane mini-lane bowling alley, snack bar, dining area, game room, redemption center, birthday party rooms, point of sales and office. The park opened on June 16, 2012.

Tree Top Family Adventure - Birmingham, Alabama

Our firm created the master plan and developed this outdoor/indoor family entertainment center from concept through final design and preparation of construction plans and specifications. This included the 18,000 s.f. indoor attractions building, to include a 4 lane mini-lane bowling alley, laser tag arena, game room, point of sales, soft play, toddler area, parent’s lounge and office.
Outdoor attractions include a reversible 850-foot- family road course go-kart track with dual pitting, an 18 hole ADA compliant miniature golf course and dual WaterWars.
